| door | puerta | The hinged panel you open to go into or out of a space. |
| window | ventana | An opening in a wall fitted with glass to let in light. |
| wall | pared | A vertical surface enclosing a building or dividing its inner spaces. |
| ceiling | techo | The overhead surface above you when you are indoors. |
| floor | suelo | The flat surface you walk on indoors. Not a storey of a building. |
| roof | tejado | The covering on top of a building that keeps out rain. |
| basement | sótano | A level of a building lying below ground level. |
| attic | desván | The space just under a building's top covering, often used for storage. |
| closet | armario | A storage room or cabinet for clothes, not a private space. |
| furniture | muebles | Tables, chairs, beds and similar movable items that fill a home. |
| table | mesa | A flat top on legs at which you eat or work. |
| chair | silla | A seat with a back, made for one person. |
| bed | cama | The piece of furniture you lie down on to sleep. |
| sofa | sofá | A long padded seat with a back, for two or more people. |
| couch | sofá | Informal word for sofa; the words are interchangeable. |
| desk | escritorio | A piece of furniture with a top and drawers, used for writing or study. |
| shelf | estante | A flat board fixed horizontally to hold books or other objects. |
| cabinet | armario | Furniture for storage, not a government body. |
| drawer | cajón | A sliding box-like compartment that pulls out of a chest or cabinet. |
| cupboard | armario | A piece of furniture with doors and shelves for storing dishes or food. |
| counter | encimera | The flat work surface in a kitchen where food is prepared. |
| sink | fregadero | A basin for washing, not something that goes down in water. |
| oven | horno | An enclosed compartment that heats food, used for baking and roasting. |
| refrigerator | nevera | A cooled cabinet that keeps food and drink fresh, above freezing point. |
| freezer | congelador | An appliance that keeps food well below zero so it stays solid for months. |
| microwave | microondas | A small kitchen appliance that heats food fast using electromagnetic waves. |
| dishwasher | lavavajillas | A machine that washes plates, glasses and cutlery automatically. |
| faucet | grifo | The fitting on a sink or pipe that you turn to let water flow. |
| bathtub | bañera | A large basin you fill with water and lie in to wash yourself. |
| shower | ducha | A washing spot where water sprays down on you from above while you stand. |
| mirror | espejo | A glass surface with a reflective backing in which you see yourself. |
| lamp | lámpara | A movable household device that gives light, standing on a table or the floor. |
